I bought a $40 button up shirt three and a half weeks before I revisited the store for an exchange, but didn't wear it until a trip the week before. When I put it on to wear a second time after one wash a seam had unraveled about 6 inches. No big deal. Sometimes there are manufacturing defects. It happens. I brought it into the store today to get an even exchange. The man who waited on me first suggested that I ripped it, then that my washing machine ripped it, and that there was no way it could have been a manufacturing defect because they only carry quality clothing. Neither of those occurred. The force at which it would have taken to rip that seam on a nondefective shirt would have ripped the buttons off first, and would have been a tear that I would have noticed had it happened while I was wearing it because it likely would have jerked me half off my feet. It was only worn for about 6 hours out to eat and a movie so it had no other signs of wear and still looks brand new. It could not have ripped in my washing machine randomly like that. I've never had clothing ripped in my front loader washing machine before and there was no sign that it was hung up or bound in anything when it came out of the wash. It was clearly unraveling at the seam. The clerk was unapologetic and said there was nothing they can do because it had been so long since purchase, again just three and a half weeks. He also stated that he doubted it was defective because they sell that same shirt at Nordstrom. That logic is flawed. I'm sure Nordstrom occasionally has defects in their clothing. Anyone that knows me knows that I would not try to get something by a store for a few bucks, and that I would take a responsibility if it was my fault. For $40 I expected better quality, and better customer service. I won't be shopping there again.
They have a wonderful boutique and wonderful service. They know when to stay and when to go and they have great taste. Great job to the ladies that began this boutique.
