The green beans tasted like canned green beans that were masked with butter to hide the distinctive "canned salt" taste. The mashed potatoes tasted *exactly* like Country Crock mashed potatoes that sell for $5 for a half-gallon at HEB. My wife's lamb tasted like an old pork chop. My "steak" was nothing more than overcooked pot roast smothered in unidentifiable sauces, again to mask the fact it had no flavor. *Everything* was coated in grease and butter. The cornbread was stale, over-salted, dry, and was of lower quality than what I make from a pouch. The "jalapeno mint jelly" that came with my wife's lamb had the unmistakable taste of pickling, yet again implying canned.
I can guarantee you that just *anywhere* else in Beaumont will feed you much better for the price, whether in terms of quality, quantity, or both.
This is a great restaurant to come and eat at we did have a 30-40 minute waiting but it was all worth it. Me and my wife had the seafood sampler lunch platter specials. I got there strawberry lemonade drink which was just delicious.
Lamb? Al Basha Mediterranean Grill.
I ordered the Triple Tournedos, while the wife ordered the Chili-Crusted Grilled Rack of Lamb. Much like the name of the restaurant, I discovered these words meant absolutely nothing, and it only took me a few bites to immediately regret spending a total of ***$125*** on TWO plates of food that I would expect to see served in a hospital, much less an "upscale dining space that boasts only the freshest line caught seafood, no hormone, no steroid, free-range beef and a menu that will delight everyone's taste buds." Their site's words, not mine.
I'm giving 1 star only because that's the lowest Google allows me to give.
Ah. "The Grill, by Arfeen, Smith, and Payne." What a delightful mouthful of words that dance delicately on your tongue...which is a shame considering the "food" that's slopped in front of you.
We were not pleased.
Nice place, little pricey and not a big selection but nice
“Sunday Family Dinner ”
I will mention that this review is written *solely* for the quality of food we received, as we used the Waitr service to dine in at home that evening.
Southern cooking? Luby's or Cracker Barrel.
Steak? Longhorn Steakhouse.
If this quality of food is par for the course with this restaurant, I congratulate them on managing to stay in business with the exorbitant prices they charge for garbage that tastes worse than what I cook on a bad night.
Pricey food, but most is inventive and tasty. Strangely, our favorite thing was their wedge salad! They have a wonderful wine list and thanks to them, we found our new favorite moscato - Deacon Estates! Definitely a special occasion spot.
Want better food? Try *literally* anywhere else.
As usual, my wife is absolutely correct.
Amazing food on the upper end price-wise. Live entertainment several nights a week. Really great service and a sweet little outdoor patio space with heaters and a stage for music. Dine indoor for a more formal experience or outdoor on the patio and sit and drink a while over a more casual meal. We love it!
I'll part with the narrative my wife came up with, "It's like a refinery wife was praised for her cooking by all of her husbands' co-workers, so she got it in her dull, little head that she should open a restaurant."
It can be assumed we will not making this same mistake twice.
