Dr.A has a great bedside manner he is truly knowledgeable about my back pain and explained everything to me.He even complicated me about the correct shoes I wore thanks Dr A

Well after weeks of trying to get my case transferred to Dr. Angel due to the fact that my current doctor is in Lake Charles and I now work in Beaumont, I was simply told " he says you need to stay with your doctor there". Well thanks so much for wasting my time and having me put off my appointment with my current doctor while waiting to get in which has only pro-longed my suffering. Thank you for absolutely nothing.

I went to see Dr. Angel and had heard a few good things about him. And by word of mouth, there was one horror story, but the rest was good. I went ahead and threw caution to the wind and jumped through hoops to get into see Dr. Angel. I have 4 disks in my neck that are messed up completely cutting off a nerve causing debilitating migraines and severe pain in my shoulders and arms. Plus I have 4 disks in my lower back messed up that is causing severe pain down through my hip and into my legs. My legs and arms are numb and have the burning and stinging symptoms as well as loss of muscle in my shoulders and back. It took a couple of months to get in to see Dr. Angel. So I was sure that I had the right Doctor, since he was that booked up. After finally getting in to see him, he half listened to what I was telling him when I was talking to him, which didn't set well with me. And looking back at his bedside manner, I am positive that when he came into the room during my visit, he came in with his mind made up that he was going to send me to another doctor in Beaumont to have a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted in my back. I don't know if there is a kickback for having this device implanted or what, but it doesn't fix the problem, it only masks it, which is NOT what I went to a neurosurgeon for. I told him that I wanted the problem fixed, that I had been living with the pain and problems for years and it has gotten not only worse, but downright unbearable to say the least, and I'd just as soon go in under the knife to fix it and get it over with. But he insisted that I would greatly benefit from this SCS device and it would fix my problem. Which I know it isn't fixing, it is only covering up a problem with a band aide, instead of fixing it. So they had the other Doctor's office call me and setup the appointment. Well that other Doctor is at a pain clinic, and here I was peeing in a cup to make sure that I am or am not taking the pills that they're pushing off onto patients, instead of fixing their problems. Anyway, after all this preliminary stuff I finally get to see that Doctor. The first thing that Doctor said when he walked into the room was "I've been reviewing your file, and I don't know why Dr. Angel sent you to me, for this device, he should have sent you straight to surgery"! Now I was already leery of this arrangement, but that for sure sent RED FLAGS up. Then he proceeded to try and cover it up, before I walked out by telling me, "Well evidently he thought you could benefit from this procedure, so let me tell you about it and answer any questions you may have"! After hearing his pitch and finding out that in some rare cases, that some of their patients treated with this SCS get as much as 50% relief, but that is rare, I told him that 50% relief wasn't going to cut it, I needed more than that, so I'd have to think about it, but honestly didn't think it was going to be for me. They went ahead and tried to set me up by having another office call and try to setup an appointment to see a shrink, because evidently you have to see one, before having that procedure done. I told them that I wasn't going to have it done, so no appointment was necessary. After seeing that Doctor, I had came home to do the old Google search on that procedure, to find out there is a ton of class action lawsuits against the manufacturer of this particular device for malfunctions, including severe shocking, or breaking or having to be replaced, or other surgeries to fix it, remove it etc. I knew it wasn't for me. I called Dr. Angels office to see what else we could do, because I need some relief period. And since you can never speak with the Doctors, I had to leave a message with his assistant on her answering machine. It's been a week and I still have not heard anything back. I am now getting setup with the referrals to see a Neurosurgeon in Houston, which is what I should have done in the first place. I would NOT recommend this Doctor for anything period!!!

Had surgery January 6th, 2016 . I still have a huge lump of fluid in my back from not being drained properly.

This is one of the best Neurosurgeons I have ever known. He is kind, soft-spoken and very caring. I had to have a discectomy with fusion in my neck. That was 15 years ago. Unfortunately, I need to see him again.
