My family used the law firm for a step parent adoption. I had already obtained a signed and notarized copy of the termination of parental rights form from the bio parent and provided the firm with comprehensive information regarding my children, my current husband, the bio father, etc. It was a very tidy, easy adoption case. The fee was quite a bit more than discussed in the consultation (because there were 3 children being adopted instead of one child and it could have been a matter of miscommunication, but that wasn't a big problem for me). My issue with Jonathan Stovall came after the adoption was finalized and his office made a clerical error on the VITAL STATISTICS form for the new birth certificates. The error was discovered during processing about 5 months after the case was finalized, which was a long wait, but no fault of the law firm. However, had they not made a careless error, my children would have had their new birth certificates 5 months after our court date. Instead, we now had to re-file their forms after making the necessary corrections. I was told that the firm would take care of it, just drop the papers off. It took me several weeks to finally get to the firm because we do not live near and it was December, which is a very busy month for a school teacher and mother of 4 (besides, all of our paper work was on file at their office already, so really I didn't need to drop anything off). I was shrugged off every time I called or e-mailed inquiring about the status of the certificates and was finally told that I should just call Vital Statistics to check on them myself because it really wasn't his (Jonathan Stovall's) problem that they were taking so long. So, very irritated, I called and was greeted with a very helpful woman that assured me Galmor Stovall Law Firm NEVER refiled my birth certificate forms and then she offered me the help, FREE OF CHARGE, that I paid for and didn't receive from Jonathan Stovall. It took a total of 10 days to get the results on my own that his firm committed to getting for me and did not. BUT my true complaint is that I was LIED to by the lawyer that I paid a large sum of money to. I can overlook mistakes, but I can not tolerate being lied to.
